BUSY FRIDAY CLOSES OUT LOCAL EARLY VOTING

Early voting for next week’s primary ended with a very busy day at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.

According to Washington County Clerk Beth Rothermel, 590 people cast their ballots Friday: 513 Republicans and 77 Democrats.

In all, 2923 Republicans and 372 Democrats have cast early votes for a total of 3295 total votes cast.

According to Rothermel, this year’s early turnout finished slightly behind 2016’s Presidential primary year, when 3345 people cast early ballots.  It was well ahead of the 2014 primary, when 2394 people voted early.

Election Day is Tuesday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

There are a number of local races on the Republican ballot, including: State Representative, County Judge, Precinct Two County Commissioner, County Court-at-Law Judge and Precinct Four Constable.  The Democrats’ ballot does not include any local races.

In the race for District-13 State Representative, five candidates are vying for the Republican nomination

Rothermel reminds voters, they can identify their precinct number by looking on their voter registration card and then going online to the County’s website.  Click on Election Information and there is a list of polling locations.   Or you can call the Courthouse on Monday or Tuesday and they can look up the information and direct the voter.

KWHI will have extensive coverage of the results Tuesday evening.

  1. I recently saw a known liberal brag about voting on the Republican ticket to help sway the election in favor of a RINO victory (as the Dem will lose regardless). We also have some very good propositions on the ballot that need to be passed that leftists are railing against. One of them is a consumption tax to replace the property tax, which is a brilliant move. We needed it yesterday. But I think we should be cautious about those voting numbers, it would not be out of character for large numbers of liberals to cheat in an election.
