CALDWELL CITY COUNCIL LOOKING AT NEW CITY HALL

The City of Caldwell could be getting a new city hall.

At their meeting earlier this week, the city council discussed replacing the current 33-year-old building.

Caldwell Mayor Norris McManus says the city is in the early phases of designing a new 6,000-square foot, two story city hall.

He estimates the project could cost $3 million, but didn't have details on how the costs would be paid.

The city hopes to build the new city hall on several lots that they own on the other side of the courthouse. McManus says they could break ground by the end of the year and be in the building by 2018.

The plan would also call for the Police Department to relocate to the current City Hall.

The city plans to hire an architect soon and take soil samples on the land for the proposed site.
