CALDWELL I.S.D. TAX VOTE THIS SATURDAY

Caldwell voters will decide on possible changes to the school district's finances, with a Tax Ratification Election this weekend.

School officials are hoping for additional funding from the state, but they need voter approval to make changes. The tax rate won't be going up if voters approve the change.

Caldwell ISD Superintendent Andrew Peters says the district would have a balanced budget for the first time in nearly eight years if the change is approved.

Peters says what the district would be doing would be "taking money out of one pot putting in another.  It wouldn’t raise taxes, but the State would give the district more money.”

Peters says Caldwell, being a smaller district, the move would only generates about $400,000, but that $400,000 would balance our budget for the first time many years.

Early voting ended Tuesday while election day is Saturday, from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. at the Burleson County Courthouse.
