CALDWELL ISD DISCUSSES FACILITIES

A committee of parents and business owners is suggesting the Caldwell school district consider expansion of their current facilities.

The Caldwell ISD Facilities Committee recently made a number of suggestions to the board on how to improve the school district.

The proposals will come in two stages. The first will deal with the high school renovations, while phase two will deal with improvements to the middle school.

The first phase includes a new career and technology building, a new gymnasium, a women's locker room that meets title-9 standards and no more portable classrooms.

Caldwell Superintendent Andrew Peters says the district would like to keep phase one under $25-million and it would be about 15 to 18 cents on the tax dollar.  Peters adds that phase two's price tag would be closer to $5 million.

School officials believe the proposals will save the district money in the long run.

Nothing has been approved yet by school board, and they may only approve a portion of the proposals.

If the proposals are approved by the board at next week’s school board meeting, officials say there will be a bond vote next May.
