CALDWELL WOMAN CONVICTED OF AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

A Caldwell woman has been convicted by a Burleson County jury on an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge.

54-year old Beverly Dean Jones has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Jones was charged after she reportedly confronted her ex-boyfriend in church with a gun.

Authorities say an investigation revealed a pattern of behavior toward the victim including harassing phone calls, threats, and disturbances that resulted in Jones being given numerous Criminal Trespass warnings.

At one point Jones allegedly threatened to find the victim in church and shoot him.

The jury returned its verdict after less than an hour of deliberation.

Aggravated Assault is a second degree felony punishable by 2-20 years incarceration and up to a $10,000 fine.  Jones will be required to serve at least half of her sentence before being eligible for parole.
