CAMERON CHIEF CANDIDATE WITHDRAWS FROM POST

The man selected to take over as the next police chief in Cameron is no longer taking the job.

Shane Snider accepted an offer from the city in September and was set to start October 2nd.  In a press release Thursday night, Cameron City Manager Rhett Parker said that Snider was withdrawing his name from consideration.

The release said that the city received unverified information regarding Snider. They investigated the rumors and found that information was false.  However, when Snider learned about the "movement" against him, he notified the city he would not be taking the job.

Snider has spent the past nine years working for the Harris County Constable Office Precinct One in Houston.

Snider has a total of 26 years in law enforcement, including time as a Senior Deputy with Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
