CAR THIEF ELUDES MANHUNT IN FAYETTE COUNTY
A car thief remains at large following a massive manhunt Saturday in Fayette County.
The chase began in Gonzalez County where deputies pursued a stolen vehicle into Fayette County, where deputies had set up road spikes near the Navidad River Bridge.
The driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot into a heavily brushy, wooded area, believed to be armed with a gun.
The search included Sheriff’s deputies including K9 unit Lobos and a DPS helicopter. Also involved in the search were Schulenburg Police, Weimar Police and DPS troopers.
After an extensive search, the operation was called off.
Three law enforcement personnel had to be treated for heat exhaustion.
