Record-breaking ticket sales highlighted the crowning of the 2016 Washington County Fair
Queen, Saturday night at the fairgrounds in Brenham.
Brenham High School senior Carli Conway will reign over the 148th edition of the oldest county fair in Texas.
Conway sold a new fair record 3,462 tickets for a record total of $86,540, which has stood since 2012.
Conway represents the Washington County 4H and is the daughter of Dwight and Brandi Conway.
The runner up for queen was Alexis Chaudron, a junior at Brenham High school, who represents the Brenham FFA. Alexis is the daughter of Wesley and Amy Stewart, and the late Jacob Chaudron. Chaudron sold a total of $34,855 worth of season tickets.
The four candidates also broke a total sales record of 6,651 tickets for a total of $166,266 raised.
Indigo Podeszwa, a junior at Brenham Christian Acedemy, won the Judge’s Choice Award of $500. Podeszwa also represents the Washington County 4H.
Also in this year’s court is Burton High School junior, Holli Baker, representing the Burton FFA.

Earlier Saturday, the Junior Mr. and Miss Pageant was held. Dawson Draehn was named JuniorMr. and Riley Meier was selected Junior Miss.
The winners of the Washer Toss and Bean Bag competitions were the same in both contests: Jeff and Lori Finke took first place in both events.
The entertainment for the fair got underway Saturday night with Abigail Taylor, Old Southern Moonshine Revival and Kevin Fowler.
The Fair kicked off Saturday morning with 53 entries taking part in the Fair Parade.
The Washington County Fair continues through next Saturday night.
