Former Brenham Cubette volleyball star Caroline Young has been named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Young scored 48 kills in 11 sets to lead SMU to a 2-1 record at the College of Charleston Classic.
The junior All-American averaged 4.36 kills per set during the three matches, climbing to seventh in the league with 3.31 per set overall. Young led the team in all three matches, including a weekend-high 19 kills in four sets against the College of Charleston. She has recorded at least 10 kills in six straight matches this season.
Young also had 17 digs and nine blocks this weekend. She picked up her second straight all-tournament award at the Charleston tournament, the fourth of her career.
This is the Young’s first Player of the Week award of the season, and the third of her career.
