CASA DINNER RAISES OVER $22K

Over 22-thousand-dollars was raised to benefit CASA for Kids of South Central Texas at their recent Wine & Tapas Dinner in Cat Spring.

Over 100 guests attended the sold-out fundraiser to benefit abused and neglected children in the local community.

Several courses of exotic tapas and wines from throughout the world were served, while live and silent auctions helped raise 15-percent more funds that last year’s event.

CASA Program Director Jo Reaves says events like the Wine and Tapas dinner go a long way toward raising awareness and needed funding.  She goes on to say that in the current difficult economic times, the rate of removal from abuse or neglect is expected to continue to increase.

In 2013 CASA advocated for 188 abused or neglected children.  So far in 2014, they have advocated for 158 children with 55 active volunteer advocates.

Proceeds from the event go toward recruiting, training and supporting volunteer advocates to look after the best interst of abused and neglected children in foster care.
