CELEBRATIONS ACROSS THE BRAZOS VALLEY MONDAY

  

Celebrations abound as the Brazos Valley commemorates the Fourth of July with a slew of activities.

Locally, events get underway with the annual Chappell Hill Fourth of July Parade through downtown.

The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. and features the World Famous Marching Kazoo Band.

Veterans and First Responders will be honored during the parade, which will be broadcast live on KWHI and kwhi.com with Kyla McCoy.

Following the parade, there will be plenty of activities, including: the Cool Rods Car Show, food, and live music with Rock of Ages. The Chappell Hill Historical Society will be hosting the “Cowboy” Williams exhibit.

At 10:30, the oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration west of the Mississippi River kicks off in Round Top.

The Round Top parade begins, as always, with the firing of the Civil War canon.

After the parade there will be food and music as well as children’s activities at the Round Top Rifle Hall.

Burton hosts a barbeque meal and activities at the Burton Community Center.  Lunch will be served until 1:30.  There will also be a live and silent auction followed by bingo and children’s games.

Independence will be hosting a number of activities, including a trail ride at 2:00, a parade at 5:00, and a street dance following the parade.  The fireworks begin at 9:30.

The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum at Texas A&M is hosting the College Station Noon Lions Club's "I Love America" Fourth of July Celebration, Monday. The Museum will be open from 9:30am - 8:00pm with free admission all day. There will be live music, food, and fireworks.

Giddings will host Fury on the Fourth Bull Riding at the Lee County Sheriff’s Posse covered arena.  There will be music at Giddings Firemen’s Park throughout the day.

The Fury on the Fourth will also include Mutton Bustin’ for the kids and will be followed by fireworks and a dance with Cameron Nelson.

And, the birthplace of Texas will be hosting the annual H-E-B Fireworks on the Brazos at Washington-on-the-Brazos.

The celebration begins at 10:00 a.m.  Admission to the park is free, with a number of activities taking place throughout the day.

A free concert by the Cody Bryan Band will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in the park’s amphitheater, followed by a fireworks extravaganza with patriotic music broadcast on KTEX-106 at approximately 9:30.

Buses will run constantly from 1 to 10 p.m. to shuttle guests to the different areas of the park, at no charge.

Visitors can bring picnics, blankets, lawn chairs and flashlights. State park rules apply; alcohol is prohibited.

Our sister station KTEX-106 will be broadcasting from all the events throughout the day.
