CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO ADD “GEOCACHING” TO “GO LOCO” CAMPAIGN

The Washington County Chamber continues the summer Buy Local “Go Loco” campaign by offering cash prizes to those wishing to participate in a Geo-Loco Treasure Hunt which, through geocaching, also encourages shopping, playing, and eating locally.

Geocaching is a fun hobby for all ages. Special containers have been hidden throughout the county. In the Chamber’s Geo-Loco hunt, points are earned by locating caches, eating, shopping and visiting local attractions. You need 50 points to have a chance to win. By downloading a geocaching app to your smart phone, and then picking up a Treasure Hunt Passport at the Chamber of Commerce or Visitor Center, you can be on your way to the Grand Prize $100 VISA gift card or second and third place prizes of $50 VISA gift cards, sponsored by Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union in Brenham.

As the summer winds down, take advantage of the local fun that is right here in Washington County. There are grape stomps, swimming facilities, lavender picking, historic sites, picnic areas and much more. Remember to look for the “We’re Going LOCO” signs in participating businesses for some fun deals.

If you want to know more about geocaching, there will be “Geocaching 101” sessions held on Saturday, August 1, at 10 a.m. and Monday, August 3, at 5:30 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce located at 314 S. Austin Street in Brenham.
