CHAPPELL HILL ANNOUNCES 2015 WOMAN, MAN AND BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

“Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street was another success for our Annual Banquet as we celebrated a year of increased business promotion, increase in membership and planning for the growth of Chappell Hill while acknowledging the volunteers and citizens that work tirelessly to help us accomplish our mission,” stated Melanie Holton, Vice-President of the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce and Chair of this year’s Banquet Committee.  “We had an increase in our Business After Hours events, forums on public education, public safety, secured inaugural Hotel Occupancy Tax funds to help us promote our community, and continue to identify ways to help Chappell Hill promote our businesses and economic growth which impacts not only Washington County, but neighboring counties,” stated Holton.

“We also acknowledged contributions made by our retiring two Board of Directors, Bobby Ramey and Doug Smith who each have contributed to the enhancement of our community and economic growth over the last six years.  Also, we had two new Life Members join the Chamber Saturday, Philips Veterinary Hospital and Matt & Christi Strock,” said Holton.

“We always acknowledge the hard work and dedication our volunteers and community leaders contribute to the Chappell Hill area and we are pleased to announce that this year’s recognition for our Woman of the Year is Denise Romo.  Denise volunteers tirelessly to the events which make Chappell Hill unique such as our July 4th Parade, Christmas Fayre & Teddy Bear Parade and our two festivals which each bring in over 25,000 tourists to Chappell Hill.  Denise is a volunteer not only in Chappell Hill but also volunteers in our public school system and helps with the mission work of Calvary Baptist Church and we applaud her for her contributions.” Holton said.

2015 Man of the Year Michael Kmiec (L) with 2014 recipient John Durrenberger.

“Our choice for the 2015 Man of the Year none other than Michael Kmiec, Chief of the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department.  He’s tireless commitment to enhancing the services provided by his department, the time he commits to the department but also away from his family is beyond recognition and we want to thank Michael for making Chappell Hill a better place and always striving for the best by looking out Chappell Hill.  He always goes above a beyond by engaging in fire training Chappell Hill residents will only benefit from and makes our community proud,” stated Holton.

BOY 2015-2.8.16
John and Carolyn Kopycinski were awarded Business of the Year for Chappell Hill Bakery and Deli.

“We always look for businesses that contribute to the economic prosperity of Chappell Hill and throughout our neighboring communities.  This year’s 2015 Business of the Year has strived to not only put Chappell Hill on the map by securing the recognition of the Dallas Morning News, Texas Monthly, and Southern Living only to name a few, but continues to maintain its small town roots by giving back to the community for over 40 years.  Chappell Hill Bakery & Deli earned this year’s Business of the Year Award and we applaud their contributions to the economic prosperity of Chappell Hill, but also appreciate their continued investment in our youth and community values,” stated Holton.

“Chappell Hill is looking forward to a prosperous 2016 and we applaud all of our sponsors for the annual banquet. We are already working on a couple of forums for the spring related to public safety as well as growth trends impacting our area.  Chappell Hill’s placement as the “Gateway to Washington County” is unique and we continue to study the opportunities and the challenges this delivers.  We as a community and chamber of commerce are engaging in strategies necessary to ensure the livelihood of our economy but also want to meet the needs of our members and work to ensure we prepare for the future.” concluded Holton.
