CHAPPELL HILL EXTENSION MAY NEED FURTHER CHANGES

Brenham City Engineer Grant Lishka says there are still some changes being made in conjunction with the Chappell Hill Street extension project.  Lishka says the project to extend the street out to highway 290, will now include the restriping of the existing four lane undivided section of South Market  street to a two lane section with a center turn lane.  Brenham Police Chief Rex Phelps is concerned about the number of accidents that could happen if some modications, including the striping are not made in this extension.  Council member Mary Barns-Tiley commented that the current situation is sometimes dangerous.

Lishka says Jones and Carter, the engineers on the project has prepared several alternatives for the Texas Department of Transportation to review.

TxDot representatives were at Thursday’s meeting of the Brenham City Council to discuss the feasibility of options.

Lishka says  the related traffic signal  at South Market makes the restriping a concern.
