CHASE ENDS IN DEATH OF MILAM CO. MAN

  

A chase that began in Caldwell last (Sunday) night, ended in Milam County with one man dead and the driver in police custody.john fitzgerald page jr

According to the DPS, a chase began around 7:30 p.m. Sunday when Caldwell Police tried to stop a driver who was involved in a domestic disturbance incident.

The chase went north along State Highway 36. Police tried several times to stop the Toyota Camry, including deploying spike strips in Cameron. Speeds reached 120 miles per hour.

The chase ended about a half hour later, in Buckholts, when 25-year old John Fitzgerald Page, Jr. lost control of his car, crashed into a highway median and struck Lupe Rodriguez/

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Page is charged with Manslaughter and Evading Arrest.

His bond has been set at $1 million dollars.

  1. This makes 3 people that have lost their lives this young year because of “Pursuit By LEO” (Law Enforcement Officials) incidents. If you think about it, there’s no reason for pursuing some one 120 MPH down the road where innocent people live. Pursuits should cease and desists when approaching residential areas, down town gatherings and other areas. I know it was the driver that made his car go 120 MPH, but he was being pursued By a law enforcement official. C’mon, let’s pick him up later. It was a DV (Domestic Violence) call, not a heinous murderer.
