CITY APPROVES “LETTER OF NO OBJECTION” FOR PROJECT

The Brenham City Council has approved a “letter of no objection” for the rehabilitation of the Brenham Housing Authority’s Northside Terrace apartment complex.

Marvalette Hunter of Huntjon LLC, the contractor for the project, had requested the letter as part of her company’s application for 4% housing tax credits from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.  The 66 existing units at 1801 Northview Circle will be rehabilitated and offered to low income individuals and families currently residing in Brenham’s public housing.  The newly renovated area, to be renamed Northview Village, is phase one of four for Brenham Housing Authority’s partnership with Huntjon.

The next phase of construction is a two-story complex on Hosea Street adjacent to Henderson Park.  While Huntjon will retain a portion of ownership in the units, the Brenham Housing Authority will have the controlling interest in ownership.  No tax dollars are being spent in the rehabilitation or the new construction.
