CITY COUNCIL TERMINATES JANITORIAL CONTRACT WITH LIM SERVICE INDUSTRIES

During their Council meeting this afternoon (Thursday), the Brenham City Council made the unanimous decision to terminate their contract with Lim Service Industries.

Lim Service Industries has been the janitorial provider for the City of Brenham after winning the bid. Director of Public Works Dane Rau mentioned that though Lim was the second lowest of the bidders, the lowest was also a company they had been displeased with the service of.

He went on to explain that Lim has missed multiple days of work, including the first two. They have plenty of documentation of the lack of service, and would be opting for the second “out” clause in their contract, which would allow for a 30-day termination notification.

The 5-day termination would be applicable, but Rau felt the 30-day would allow them to get the replacement, who he acknowledged was ready to go as well, and their paper work, all in order.

The temporary replacement will fill in for 120 days, and is a bidder who had placed a higher bid. She will fill in until the bidding process can be redone, and then the council will need to choose again.

The council voted unanimously to terminate at the recommended 30 days, and elected the 120 day temporary fill in.
