CITY COUNCIL TO CANVASS RESULTS FROM MAY 9TH ELECTIONS

The Brenham City Council will meet on Thursday to canvass the results of the May 9th elections, and administer oath of office to the following elected officials:

Milton Y Tate, Jr,                Mayor-at-large

Place 2 (4 yr term)          Weldon C Williams, Jr.

Place 4 (4 yr term)              Daniel H Goss

The Council will discuss the possibility of purchasing body cameras for the police department from Special Revenue Funds.

The police department has been testing and evaluating the possibility of purchasing the cameras, which would be used for recording documentation of police interaction with the community. They would be to protect both the officer and community member during law enforcement encounters

To purchase the cameras from Safety Vision will cost a total of $21,035.00. An additional $13,550 will be used to purchase a server for storage. The total cost for the body camera system will be approximately $34,585. Money to purchase the cameras will come from a special revenue source that is funded through private donations.

The council will also discuss the possible construction of a parklet on Baylor Street in downtown Brenham.

A non-exclusive contract to grant General Site Services to operate a roll-off container service for residents, businesses, and industries inside the Brenham City Limits will also be heard on its second reading.

The Brenham City Council will meet on Thursday at 1:00 on the second floor of City Hall in the Council Chambers.
