The Brenham City Council will hold a public hearing and discuss a zoning special use permit for a church when it meets today (Thursday).

Grady Hardeman Jr. is asking the City to grant him a special use permit to allow for a church and related auxiliary uses on property located at 515 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.  Following a public hearing during the 1 o’clock meeting Thursday afternoon, the Brenham City Council will discuss and possibly vote on the request by Hardeman.

In other business, the Council is expected to accept a fifty thousand dollar donation to the Brenham Police Department.  In conjunction with Downtown Brenham’s “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” concert series, the Council will consider a noise variance and temporary street closures through TxDot on Saturday July 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th.

A lease for hangar space at the Brenham Municipal Airport by Patrick and Deanna Murray will be discussed and voted upon.  New light poles and fixtures for the Bluebell Aquatic Center are on the agenda, along with a one year contract extension for bulk water treatment chemicals.  During the work session of the meeting, Council members will hear a presentation related to the 2014 annexation of one half acre of land along State Highway 36 into Brenham.

Today's (Thursday) City Council meeting begins at 1 o’clock in Council chambers on the second floor of Brenham City Hall.
