CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS HOUSING FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES

The Brenham City Council will discuss possible support for improvements and renovations to an aging housing development for low-income families.

The council is set to meet this afternoon, when they will discuss a resolution in support of the Jefferson Square Houston Ltd. for their application for a state tax-credit application.

According to city officials, the 44-unit affordable housing development on West Jefferson St. is showing signs of aging and is in need of repair, and the Jefferson Square organization is seeking tax credits to buy and rehabilitate the development, which, they hope, will extend the life of the building and offer quality rental housing for Brenham.

The Council will also discuss an interlocal agreement with the county relating to improvements and operation of Linda Anderson Park.

Also up for discussion Thursday, the council will discuss appointments to various city advisory boards.

The city council will also discuss reappointment and compensation of City Prosecutor Bill Kendall, as well as for city Municipal Court Judges Julian Weisler and Robert Wright.

The City Council meets at 1:00 this afternoon in the second-floor council chambers at City Hall on West Vulcan.
