CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD BUDGET WORKSHOP, THURSDAY

The Brenham City Council will hold one more workshop before finalizing the 2017-18 city budget.

The council will meet Thursday afternoon to go over the property rolls from the Washington County Appraisal District.

According to City Manager Terry Roberts, the total property values for the next year are “trending down” slightly from last year.

Roberts says the council will also get the final figures on health insurance from the Texas Municipal League, which he says will likely increase 10-percent.

The council will also discuss potential projects that could be funded with certificates of obligation.

The final budget—which is expected to be approved at the September 18th meeting—should be around $64-million.

The council will meet tomorrow (Thursday) at 1:00 at the Benham City Hall on West Vulcan St.
