CITY OFFERS WOOD CHIPS AND SHAVINGS

Within the last several years the Brenham Citizens Collection Station has received an abundance of yard debris and trees into the facility.

City crews have ground this material into single ground wood chips or shavings.  In order to lessen the piles for the winter months the city would like to ask for the public’s help to find a use for this material.

This material can be used for assisting with erosion control along embankments, top dressing around young trees, or putting organic material back into poor soil.

Throughout the rest of the year, this material will be free to anyone who is interested. Large or small loads are welcome.

Double ground material will be sold at the normal rate of $22.50/ton.

For more information, contact Dane Rau, Director of Public Works at (979) 337-7407.

  1. Wood chips are hazardous to new plants because they carry bugs. The “mulch” will heat the longer it sits and needs to be turned so the heat will kill all the pests inside. Just a warning if wanting to use for new baby plants.
