CITY OPENS FOUR BIDS FOR WALKING TRAIL REPAIRS

Repairs to the City of Brenham’s walking trail at Hohlt Park could cost the city about $36,000.

The City Council is expected to approve the low bid of $144,200 to repair the heavily damaged trail, when the council meets Thursday afternoon.

The bid was submitted by Collier Construction and was the lowest of the four submitted for the project.

According to Brenham Public Works Director Dane Rau, 75-percent of the cost should be covered by FEMA disaster funds.

The four bids, which ranged from $144,200-to-296,000 were opened Thursday afternoon.

The City Council is expected to approve the Collier Construction bid when they meet Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at City Hall.

Rau says the cost of the project means an engineer must be hired and the project bid out.  Rau says he has been working with O’Malley-Strand Associates on the project.

Rau hopes to get the project started around Sept. 1st.
