CITY SEEKING HELP IN SELLING LANDFILL SITE

Brenham City Manager Terry Roberts says a change in state law means it may be easier to sell some 205 acres of land that was once permitted as a landfill site near Chappell Hill.

The City allowed the permit to expire some years ago and the city has been trying to sell it ever since.  Roberts says the state law now allows the city to use a real estate company to help them sell it.  When the Brenham City Council meets Thursday they are expected to approve a farm and ranch real estate agreement with Hodde Real Estate Company for marketing, listing and sale of the land.

The Brenham City Council has been searching for a use for the land for over ten years.  The land was first permitted to be a landfill about thirty years ago but was never used.

The Brenham City Council meets Thursday at one at city hall.
