Thirty five people were detained and dozens of roosters were seized in Burleson County when sheriff’s deputies discovered a cockfighting match on a rural county road, Sunday afternoon. .
Sheriff’s deputies were investigating some suspicious activity off County Road 388 when they stopped a car pulling into some property. Several other cars were parked in the back of the property and many of them began to leave when they saw the law enforcement officers approach.
Backup deputies were called to the scene and took about 35 people into custody, one of them was former Brazos County Justice of the Peace Romero Quintero.
Dozens of roosters were seized and deputies are looking for a shelter for them.
