COLLEGE STATION MAN SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS

A 69-year-old College Station man has been sentenced to two years in prison after his conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

John Wesley Vaughn
(Brazos Co. Jail)

Jurors convicted John Wesley Vaughn last week for the shooting his former neighbor in College Station in October of 2014.

Vaughn was convicted of shooting Chad Glasshoff in the hand and back, as he stood behind Glasshoff’s vehicle. Vaughn testified last week that he had been firing at a weapon in Glasshoff's hand -- Glasshoff said he had been holding a phone at the time of the shooting.

Vaughn and Glasshoff testified they had a long-running feud and were each scared of the other.

Vaughn faced between two and 20 years, but he was also eligible for community supervision, provided the jury recommended both a sentence of less than 10 years and probation.

The jury, however, did not recommend probation. Vaughn will need to serve the full two years of his sentence. He will not be eligible for parole.

Vaughn’s attorney says his client will file an appeal.
