COLLIER CONSTRUCTION SUBMITS LOW BID FOR LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

The City of Brenham opened bids today at 2pm for expansion and renovation of the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library, and out of the three bidders of the afternoon, Collier Construction came out with the lowest bid of $3,088,000.

The recommendation will now head to Komatsu Architects for review. Following that, it will go to the City of Brenham staff for review, and the bid will be officially recommended at the City Council Meeting on April 2nd.

The City of Brenham has three million dollars allocated for the rebuilding of the library, which sits at the corner of North Park and Martin Luther King Streets.  1.5 million dollars is coming from the City, and the other 1.5 million from private donations.

City officials are hoping to get similar results in obtaining bids for the new Brenham Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. The new shelter was expected to cost about 2 million dollars, but the lowest bid was almost 3 million dollars….coming in at $2,960,000.  Brenham Police Chief Rex Phelps continues to work with the low bidder to try to bring the bid closer to what the City has on hand for the project.  Phelps is expected to report back to City Council at their April 9th meeting.

  1. 3 million dollar dog pound and no fire station to protect the animals on that side of town. I haven’t seen the sub station that the tax payers paid for with the bond years ago. Seems to me we are worried about other stuff in this town then public safety on the south side of the town.
