COMMISSIONERS APPROVE NEW CAMERAS FOR SHERIFF’S VEHICLES

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office will be getting 21 new vehicle cameras.  The County Commissioners approved the $85,000 purchase at their meeting this (Tuesday) morning.  Chief Deputy Jay Petrash said the manufacturer of the previous camera system had changed hands and no longer supported the older cameras.  The new in vehicle cameras will work with the deputy’s body camera and automatically upload the video from the vehicle.

Commissioners also approved a transfer of funds from Asset Forfeitures to the salary budget for two of the Assistant District Attorneys.  District Attorney Julie Renken said that the forfeitures were form drug money that had been seized and the sale of vehicles used in drug dealing.  Renken said her two assistants have put in many hours in the past year with extra duties and training:

In other action, commissioners approved a road crossing for a High Pressure Gas line on Indian Creek Lane.  The line will serve a nearby gas well.  They also renewed a service contract for audio equipment at the Washington County 911 Dispatch Office.
