COMMISSIONERS APPROVE PURCHASE OF AMBULANCE PATIENT COMPARTMENT

Washington County Commissioners approved a purchase and several agreements during a short meeting Tuesday.  Commissioners gave EMS the authority to purchase a new patient compartment module.  The ambulance “box” as it is referred to will cost $122,000 and will be mated to a new chassis that was purchased in August.  EMS Director Kevin Deramus said that purchasing the chassis and box separately is more cost efficient than purchasing a complete ambulance.  The patient module will be purchased with funds from the 2018 budget.

Commissioners also approved the extension of the agreement with Revenue Optimization Solutions.  The group recovers Medicaid funds from the Texas Ambulance Supplemental Payment Program.  This is the 4th year for Washington County to utilize the service to recover payments for unfunded transports.

Commissioners also renewed an agreement with the Brazos Valley Council of Governments to provide transportation for Washington County residents through the Senior Center.  They also approved the annual audit of the District Attorney’s Asset Forfeiture Report.

The commissioners closed out the meeting by approving several line item transfers to this year’s budget.

  1. Certainly buying the module and carrier are more cost effective. However once you equip it, get it stickered up and install all of the electronic lights and radio communications equipment, you’ve spent the same amount of money were you to have bought the complete unit to begin with.
