COMMISSIONERS HAVE LENGTHY AGENDA FOR NEXT TUESDAY

Washington County Commissioners have a lengthy agenda for their meeting next Tuesday after their meeting this week was canceled due to the weather.  Most of the items on the canceled meeting agenda were moved to next Tuesday’s agenda.  The one item that is missing is the resolution designating the 2nd and 3rd floor of the courthouse as a gun free zone.  County Judge John Brieden said that his office was advised by the county’s law firm to wait on bringing the item before the Commissioners Court.  They advised that a court case had just completed on the gun free zone issue and the county need to see how that may affect the courthouse.

Commissioners are scheduled to open bids for Architectural Services for the new Road and Bridge facility and discuss appointing a committee to review the bids.  They are also scheduled to award bids for jail inmate payphone services.

Commissioners are also scheduled to approve a number of FEMA payments for flood damage from May of 2016.  The payments still have to make it through the FEMA audit process.  So far, the county has applied for over $3 million from FEMA, but has received just over $1 million in payments for the May 2016 flood damage.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning at 9:00 at the Washington County Courthouse.
