COMMISSIONERS MAKE TWO PROCLAMATIONS AT TUESDAY’S MEETING

The Washington County Commissioners approved two proclamations at their meeting on Tuesday, one being Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month in Washington County.

Martha Garcia-Opersteny, Executive Director of The Sexual Assault Resource Center, along with Darin Dorsey, Program Director, were there to hear and accept the proclamation.

National Telecommunicators Week in Washington County for April 12-18, 2015 was also announced by the commissioners. There to accept the Proclamation from the Washington County 911 was Nathan Preston, Director, Richard Magjarevich, Supervisor, and Kristy Taylor, Supervisor.

Nathan Preston also went on at length about the changes coming up in the 911 System with the new Everbridge System, saying that there would be public information meetings on the new systems. Included in that would be the eventual implementation of 911 texting.

Preston reported to the commissioners that work is continuing to bring down call response time in the system, right now being at 67 secs from beginning of call, to the time help is sent. The goal is to bring it down to 60 seconds.
