COMMISSIONERS NOMINATE VOTING MEMBER FOR REGIONAL WATER PLANNING GROUP

The Washington County Commissioners nominated Lowell Ogle of the City of Brenham as a voting member position in the Brazos G Regional Water Planning group during their meeting Tuesday morning.

The next Commissioners Court meeting was rescheduled for Wednesday, February 25th due to some of the members attending Washington County Day at the State Capitol in Austin. That day was chosen so there would be enough to canvass the votes from the February 17 election.

The Commissioners approved the County Engineer to advertise for Seal Coat bids, and due to the lower price of oil, the bid was expected to be lower than in previous years.

Also presented and approved was the District Clerk’s 2014 Annual Report, with their being 188 new civil cases file, 225 disposed, five civil case appeals.

The commissioners also heard the monthly EMS report, which highlighted a 28% increase in transfer rates to out-of –county hospitals. There were 142 transfers in January, compared to 104 in January 2014 and 125 in January of 2013. The commissioners discussed how to get the hospital facilities in Brenham up to a standard where patients could remain in Brenham, and that many of the doctors left the area when the Brenham hospital lost its trauma designation. There was the concern that with all the ambulance on out-of –county transfers, that there would not be enough ambulances left for local emergencies, and that it would cost $450,000 to add another ambulance and EMS personnel to run it.

It was noted in the report that the majority of transfers were to Scott and White in College Station, followed by St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Also approved was a Variance Request for a land division fronting Harmon School Road in the James B Miller Survey in Precinct 4.
