COMMISSIONERS TO HEAR PUBLIC COMMENTS ON PROPOSED CHAPPELL HILL RACE TRACK

The Washington County Commissioners will meet on Tuesday to hear comments from the public regarding the proposed racetrack in the Chappell Hill area.

A group of Chappell Hill landowners filed a civil suit in late January seeking a permanent injunction to stop the race track from being built, saying it would devalue their property.

Also to be approved will be accounts payable, and the pending Fairgrounds Management’s Rental and Regulation Contracts.

Because of the expected crowd, the meeting will be held at the Washington County Courthouse Annex at 100 South Park Street at 9am Tuesday.

  1. Our local newspaper lead us to believe, while quoting Judge Brieden, that County Commissioners had no legal right, or authority, to do anything about the race track.
    Question is:
Why is the County using valuable resources to have this meeting in the first place?
