COUNCIL MOVES TO EXTEND QUIET ZONE TO FM 109 CROSSING

Brenham City Council approved to formally establish a Quiet Zone at the railroad crossing at FM 109 today (Thursday).  A Quit Zone or “No Train Horn” area became possible after the signals were upgraded by BNSF earlier this year. In July, both the City and the County notified both BNSF and TxDOT of the intention of extending the existing Quiet Zone in Brenham through the crossing.  Delineators will be added at the crossing to prevent drivers from attempting to drive around the crossing arms.  The $8,000 cost of the delineators will be shared with the County.  The Quiet Zone at the crossing is expected to commence around January 15th of next year.
