COUNCIL TAKES NO ACTION ON BATHROOM CONTRACTOR

No action was taken by Brenham City Council Thursday after their Executive Session.  The Executive Session was on the agenda for terminating the contract with GCP Contractors for the construction of the new bathroom facilities at Fireman’s Park.  City Manager James Fisher said after the meeting that no action was taken because they are still working out the details with GCP’s bond company.  Fisher said the item would be place on the agenda for council’s next meeting on March 8th.

Brenham City Council approved GCP’s bid of $251,500 for construction of new bathrooms at Fireman’s Park in July of last year. The new restrooms were to replace an old restroom structure adjacent to the kitchen building and would be funded through the BCDC.  Construction of the new bathrooms was expected to take 120 days and be completed by December 1st.  The contractor was delayed by the heavy rains from Hurricane Harvey in August but only the foundation of the buildings had been completed by the end of the year.

  1. What is going to happen to costs of materials already in storage by local subcontractors?
Every decision delay just makes it a longer time before payment will be made. These materials were ordered to meet the original completion deadline.

    1. I’d suggest you return the unused material and move on to the next project!!! Is it that hard to realize that your service will no longer be needed or appreciated!!! Move ON!!!
