The Brenham city council will discuss street improvements when they meet Thursday afternoon.

The council will hear a presentation on proposed work to extend Chappell Hill Street, from Lawndale Avenue to Stone Street.

City manager Terry Roberts says this involves the possible continuation of a project that connects Chappell Hill Street out to the overpass at Highway 290 near Germania and the Dairy Bar.

Roberts says the work session will gauge the council’s interest in the project…

Also on Thursday’s agenda, the council will discuss a possible noise ordinance for the Home Sweet Farm Market on South Park Street.

According to Roberts, the Market has requested the variance for acoustic music on the first and third weekends of each month—from 6-to-9 p.m. on Saturdays and from 11 a.m.-to-4 p.m. on Sundays.

Roberts says the only nearby business that would be affected is the Ant Street Inn, and an agreement has already been reached that the music will not be played on days Ant Street is hosting a wedding.

The council will also discuss a request for stop signs at the intersection of College Avenue and South Day Street, as well as stop signs at the intersection of South Day and Charles Lewis Street.

The city council meets Thursday afternoon at 1:00 in the council chambers at City Hall on West Vulcan.

  1. Can you please clarify what you mean by “…to extend Chappell Hill Street, from Lawndale Avenue to Stone Street.”?
Chappell Hill Street already exists between Lawndale and Stone.
Are you intending to say, “to widen”? It’s going to be hard to get worthwhile public input if no one knows the plan.
