COUNTERFEIT $100 FOUND ON MARKET STREET

A local citizen turned in this $100 dollar bill Friday to Brenham Police Department.  They found it on Market Street. It’s counterfeit and the Brenham Police Department is asking residents to keep an eye out for fake bills that look similar.  Any resident or business finding a similar bill can contact Brenham Police Department and ask to speak to an officer at 979-337-7337.

  1. Thank you for the questions about how to tell the difference regarding counterfeit bills. Without getting into too much detail, counterfeit bills are generally on a different type of paper and paper texture; the printing process is different – a real bill is embossed; and the watermark may not be in the correct place. It does take training to spot the difference, so please don’t hesitate to contact the department if you have any questions at all.

  2. Thanks for showing us the picture of the fake but with no description of what makes it stand out as a fake, how would anyone know? To the untrained eye, like me, this looks just like ones I have gotten from the bank. Please elaborate further so people know what to look for.
