COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE AUDIT REPORT

The Washington County Commissioner accepted the audit report on the county’s 2015 financials.  The accounting firm of Rutledge, Crain and Company reported that the county had a solid year last year with $674,000. In cash reserves.  They did question some of the investments in the pension fund, but noted that the county is following government guidelines in that fund.

Commissioners approved the purchase of a 2017 Tahoe for the Sheriff’s department after one of their 2015 Tahoe was totaled last month in a collision with a cow.  They also approved the acceptance of a grant from the Texas Department of Health Services to allow the EMS department to purchase handheld blood analyzers.  EMS director Kevin Deramus said the analyzers will allow paramedics to test the blood of patients in the field and use that data in their assessment.

Commissioners also approved the acceptance of Friends Lane and Kerala Lane in section one of the Burton Villas Subdivision noting that these are the first concrete roads that the county has accepted from a private developer.  They also accepted .14 acres of private property on Langhorn Road in Chappell Hill to allow widening the road and improve the drainage.

Commissioners also approved an amendment to the Payphone Services Agreement at the County Jail that was brought about by a Federal Government change in the phone line fees.  They also approved a working agreement with the Brazos Valley Rape Crisis Center.  The agreement puts into writing the office space arrangement for the Sexual Assault Resource Center.
