COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE CRESTVIEW LANE ROAD EXTENSION

  

The Washington County Commissioners met Tuesday morning to approve the one year maintenance period for a road extension on Crestview Lane in the Spring Creek Estates Subdivision. The road was extended ¾ mile, and has been properly maintained.

The Commissioners also approved the amendment to the commercial lease between Washington County and Rita, Inc. for the lease of the premises located at 402 W Main Street in Burton, currently being used by the Justice of the Peace in Precinct Four as office space. The lease has been extended to 2019, all things being the same except for the increase in rent during that time, which is scheduled to be increased from $400 to $425 to $450 during that four year term.

The County Clerk’s yearly report noted that there was a $17,000 increase in funds, with 85% staying in the County, and 15% going to the state. The total of the County Clerk's Fees, including General, Probate, Criminal and Civil Fees for 2014 totaled $861,286.18, which broke down into the following:

General Fund - $551,676.40 

State - $134,551.36 

Law Library Fund - $5624.20

County Clerk Records Management Fund - $77,065.88

County Records Management Fund - $15,319.09

Official Public Records Archive - $70, 490.00 

Local Crime Stoppers $ 5,64.20 

Refunds on overpayments - $1,295.05

The 2014 Washington County Sheriff’s Office report was presented, with it being noted that burglaries were down 41%, and Thefts were down 60%. There was also discussion on the number of miles being put on Sheriff’s office vehicles of approximately 580,000 miles, which was cited as the reason of the frequent request for replacement vehicles.

The next Commissioner’s meeting will be next Tuesday at 9AM at the Washington County Courthouse.
