COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE JOINT ELECTION AGREEMENT

  

The County Commissioners Court approved a Joint Election Agreement between Burton Independent School District and Washington County during their meeting today (Tuesday).

A joint agreement must be entered into when two separate elections are held on the same day. On November 8th, the general election will be held as well as a separate bond election for voters in the Burton School District. The school district is seeking voter approval to issue $18 million in bonds to fund facility improvements.

The Washington County Commissioners Court also approved the purchase of a generator power module for Emergency Medical Services. The module will help complete a new ambulance for Washington County Emergency Medical Services. In an earlier meeting, the County Commissioners approved the purchase on an ambulance chassis. EMS purchases the two units separately in order to save money. In addition to being more affordable, buying the chassis and module separately allows for local companies to offer bids on the chassis.
