COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APROVE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT

  

The County Commissioners meeting was brief this morning with mostly routine business and reports.  Precinct 3 Commissioner Kirk Hanath led the meeting because County Judge John Brieden is at the American Legion Convention.

Commissioners voted to approve an Interlocal Agreement with Travis County for them to become an associate in the Brazos Valley Wide Area Communications System.  County EMS Director Kevin Deramus explained that this would allow better radio communication with Life Flight out of Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.  It also would allow communication with the one rescue helicopter based in Austin.  Travis County will be paying for the costs involved in the agreement.

Lu Hollander of the Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau presented the quarterly report for April through June of this year.  She commented that besides the spring wildflowers, Blue Bell Creameries is one of the largest draws for the County.  She said that because Blue Bell hands out so many Washington County brochures, they refer to them as the Visitors Bureau satellite office.
