COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS SYSTEM FOR JAIL, TUESDAY

Washington County Commissioners will make a second attempt at awarding a contract for a detention control system for the jail when they meeting Tuesday.

Last month the Commissioners tabled the awarding of a contract in order for the bidding companies to quote similar systems.  The Commissioners want the detention control system to include cameras showing all entry points to the jail and Sheriff’s office.  The current system has been in use since the 90’s, and has become unreliable.

Also on the agenda for Tuesday morning’s 9 a.m. meeting is the opening of sealed bids for the lease of four tracts of farmland in Tom Green County.  The land is part of the Washington County School Land acreage.  The Commissioners will consider accepting three Public Assistance Subgrants awarded to Washington County by the Texas Division of Emergency Management for road damages resulting from the May 2016 flooding.  They will consider adding Grimes County as a full member of the Brazos Valley Wide Area Communications System.  A memorandum of agreement between the Capital Area Trauma Regional Advisory Council and Washington County EMS for the coordination of Emergency Medical Task Force disaster management will be discussed.  And they will consider approval of an Interlocal Agreement between Washington and Lubbock counties for continuing participation in the Regional Public Defender for Capital Cases program.

Tuesday’s meeting of the Washington County Commissioners Court will be at 9 a.m. in room 103 of the courthouse in Brenham.
