COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING ON SPEED LIMIT
The Washington County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday about reducing the speed limit on Old Masonic Road.
Currently, there is not a posted speed limit on the road. A road without a posted speed limit, in accordance with the Texas Transportation code 545.352, has a day time speed limit of 60 mph and a night time speed limit of 55 mph.
Precinct Three County Commissioner Kirk Hanath says a request has been made through the petition process set forth by Washington County to reduce the speed limit on Old Masonic Rd to 40 mph.
A public hearing is required before a vote can be made by the Commissioners Court to regulate the speed limit.
In other business, the court will:
- Discuss adopting a burn ban order for Washington County
- Consider an appointment to the Hotel Occupancy Tax Board
- Discuss a subdivision variance request for a land division on Lomax-Harmel Road in Precinct 4
