COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO PROPOSE TAX RATE TUESDAY

Washington County Commissioners will have a lengthy agenda for their meeting next Tuesday.

Commissioners are expected to set the proposed property tax rate for 2017 and announce the two public hearing dates for the tax rate.  Commissioners have been in multiple budget hearings since June and are expected to propose a tax rate of $0.5171.  That rate is one cent lower than last year but will still bring in additional revenue to the county due to higher property appraisals.

Also on the agenda, commissioners are expected to discuss several contracts with the county.  They will discuss Mobile Application and Support Software for the Washington County Office of Emergency Management.  They will look at the possible renewal of the Victim Information and Notification Program.  They will also consider an agreement with the College Station Medical Center for EMS employees to gain clinical experience in acute care at that hospital.

Commissioners are expected to accept two grants Tuesday.  On the agenda is an award from the Governor’s Extraordinary Emergency Fund for the purchase of mandated EMS stretcher restraint systems for ambulances.  Also, the will consider another grant payment from the Texas Division of Emergency Management for road damages from the May 2016 storms.

Commissioners are also expected to award the leases for 4 tracts of land in Tom Green County.  That property is part of the Washington County School lands.  They will also consider the approval of an intern for the Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace.

The District and County Clerks offices will be presenting their Records Archive plans for the annual approval and commissioners will be proclaiming September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The Commissioners Court meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:00 AM in the Washington County Courthouse.
