COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WORK THROUGH FULL AGENDA TUESDAY

County Commissioners moved quickly through a full agenda of items at their meeting today (Tuesday).

Commissioners re-nominated 4 members to the Board of Directors of the Washington County Tax Appraisal District.  John Schaer, Charles Gaskamp, Johanna Fatheree, and Leslie Boehnemann Jr. were re-nominated.  Joe Antkowiak was nominated as a new member of the board to replace Delton Koerth who is stepping down.

Commissioners authorized the County Engineer to advertise for bids on materials and services including fuel for 2018.  The bids are expected to be awarded December 12th.

Commissioner also authorized the dispersal of funds to the Washington County School Districts from the school land program.  $288,133 will be going to the Brenham School District and $26,422 will be going to the Burton School District.  The amounts are based on the average daily attendance in the districts.

Commissioners approved a Patient Care Program agreement between EMS and the Brenham Baylor Scott and White Hospital.  The agreement will allow EMS paramedics to make visits to patients that have just been discharged from the hospital to ensure that they are following their doctor’s requirements.  The goal is to reduce the number of transports back to the emergency room.

Commissioners also authorized EMS to purchase and install a multi-screen console for their Situational Command Room.  The installation will utilize donated funds and give EMS commanders a better view of deployments during high demand periods.

Commissioners also moved forward with creating a Quiet Zone at the railroad crossing on FM 109.  The cost for the project is being shared with the city as the railroad crossing is right on the city limits.  The Quite Zone is expected to go into effect at the crossing January 15th.

Commissioners also approved new fees for indigent burials and transportation of bodies for autopsies.  Commissioners thanked the local funeral homes for working with the county on the issue.

Finally, Commissioners approved a subdivision variance request for a property on Conner Road, renewed the agreement with Everbridge for the county’s mass notification system, and approved the county’s holiday calendar for 2018.
