COUNTY CONTINUES TO WORK FOR TXDOT GRANTS

Washington County Judge John Brieden says the county needs to take one more step to get road improvement grants from the Texas Department of Transportation.

The county could get up to $341,000 in an 80/20 matching grant from TxDot to improve and repair roads damaged due to oil and gas drilling in the county.

Judge Brieden says they have sent off the contracts and proposals to TxDot and now he and the county commissioners need to give the plans final approval.

The county is getting more money in the proposed grants because other counties are not taking the funds.

The Washington County Commissioners are meeting today (Monday) instead of Tuesday because of a conference later this week.
