COUNTY INCREASES ELECTION WORKER PAY DURING COMMISSIONERS COURT

The Commissioners voted in to effect a decision they had made during the budget season last year, which includes raising the hourly pay of election judges, alternate election judges, election clerks, early voting ballot boards, and the central counting station.

Brieden remarked on why the agenda item was just now appearing, suggesting that while the concept was approved of back in budget season, they needed to make an actual motion and approve of it for it to take affect.

Brieden also mentioned possible elections in November, for which he wanted to be prepared, and have these employees pay scale set.

There will also be an increase in the stipend, or “technician pay” for the election tabulator personnel, which according to County Clerk Beth Rothermel, has not changed since at least 1995.

The hourly pay increase will be from $8.00 to $9.00, and the stipend will move from $35 to $50.

Rothermel thanked the court for their support of the election staff, to which Commissioner Kirk Hanath of Precinct 3 remarked how key it is to have these volunteers who work so hard.
