COUNTY TO DISCUSS TOWING SERVICES AND TAX PHASE-IN AT COMMISSIONERS’ MEETING

A discussion of towing services is on the agenda for this morning’s (Tuesday) meeting of the Washington County Commissioners Court.

Commissioners will first meet behind closed doors in an executive session with legal counsel to discuss the policies and contracts between the county and towing companies regarding a towing rotation.

That rotation would cover all abandoned, impounded, junked and disabled vehicles.

Following the executive session, commissioners will reconvene in public session to possibly vote on any changes.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting:

Discussion of a Tax phase-in agreement with Valmont Coatings for a galvanizing plant in Brenham.  The Brenham City Council approved the request at their meeting Thursday.

Commissioners approved a similar request from Valmont in March of last year.  The company then put those plans on hold in May, while laying off 40-percent of their workforce—160 workers in all.

Commissioners will also discuss funding for participation in the Brazos River Authority’s Lower Basin Floodplain Study.

Commissioners meet this morning (Tuesday) at 9:00 in the Washington County Courthouse.
