COUNTY TO ESTABLISH ENERGY TRANSPORTATION REINVESTMENT ZONE

Washington County is one of those counties where plenty of heavy equipment, used to drill for oil and gas travels on the county roads.  County Judge John Brieden says each truck with drilling equipment does extensive damage to the roads, far in excess of other vehicles.

The Texas Department of Transportation has money for counties to help them pay for this damage and the County Commissioners will be going for it when they meet Tuesday. Judge Brieden says the County needs to form a County Energy Transportation Reinvestment Zone (CETRZ).  He says this is the only way to get the needed funds.

The County’s share would be $283,000.

The County Commissioners are expected to form this zone when they meet Tuesday at the Washington County Courthouse.
