COUNTY TO PURCHASE LAND FOR NEW EMS OFFICE IN BURTON

The Washington County Commissioners Court has decided to move forward with a plan for a new office for its paramedic program in Burton.

According to County Judge John Brieden, Commissioners today (Tuesday) passed an order to exempt the purchase of the property for the facility from the bidding process…

In May of 2015, the county placed a full-time advanced community paramedic in Burton.

Since then, the paramedic has worked out of a small office in the City Hall.  Brieden says as the number of hours of the program expands, so does the need for a larger office.

That facility will also eventually house the office for the Precinct-4 Justice of the Peace.

  1. Once more, this is just another example of wasteful spending by our local government leaders. The one most prior to this was the new location for Washington County Road and Bridge on SH36. Why would it be necessary to purchase anything when many buildings are available at low cost lease rates or even purchase at low cost and remodel. There is no reason to spend the taxes from every citizen in our county for such a small percentage of the population that lives in Burton. Perhaps they should consider leasing one of the old fire stations in the area like they did in Chappell Hill. This would be much more cost effective than building yet another county owned facility with all the bells and whistles. The citizens of our county should take notice of the things going on and make their opinions known to officials-and at the ballot box.
